Lebanese & Proud!
Guys and Colleagues ;
We all grew up on those servers and games offered by JFF became part of us and an integral part of our memory. I do not think that one of you does not want or seek to save the company. I invite you today to support Leader @Thunder and provide solutions to the company. The most important thing is to donate the largest amount you can donate to save the company. We have to support Thunder in this big problem and try to help him and save his and our community.
Thank you

It’s not just about money. Sure it helps, but that’s not the only reason why. I don’t think some of you understand at all why JFF has decided to cease operations.

It’s already been extended as long as what is fair, that I think is/should be the end of it. Don’t go making a sad time worse.

The decision was made, no matter how upsetting it is, I think you all should respect it.

Okay But can u say to us what is the basic reason?
I think it was explained very clearly.

Hello everyone,

This was a decision which wasn’t easy but seems to be for the best. After almost 10 years of JustForFun the time has come to close it once and forever. This community is one of the older cod communities out there and as a lot have died out after a couple of years.

Due to my time being limited there isn’t much development in the community anymore and if I get any time/energy to spend I just want to enjoy a game and not spend time dealing with coding/cheaters. The last time I noticed this was dealing with the last hacker who found a vulnerability in Call of Duty (All cod games have this issue). Also, I have made the addon server & client open source, but nobody sadly wanted to continue development on these parts.

Due the community size decisions take a long time (very slow response time on issues), everyone needs to be heard, so many opinions. The community donation has also dropped off the last 6 months, up to a point that the costs are barely covering the servers and licenses.

Let’s face it, the cod games we are hosting, are dying and new games don’t support community servers anymore. The old way we knew is slowly dying out.

I could hand out JustForFun to someone else but this just feels wrong. I have put so many hours in this community and I just want to let people remember JustForFun as great community with well stable servers and its unique addon.

People are welcome to start their own community and continue the legacy of JFF. I would like to ask to not use the JustForFun name or an anagram that is very alike. I wish you the most success to these people who would like to start hosting, and I hope you guys will enjoy it for another 10 years!

It has been a wonderful time! I amused myself a lot and I hope you guys did the same!

Here are the last practical things:
  • The servers stay open till 30/04/2019
  • The forums will be moved after that to a free webhosting service (read-only).
  • The domain will stay my property till 01/05/2020
  • After 01/03/2019 (last birthday of JFF) admins can promote everyone they want to.
  • Can someone make a topic with contact details of people, like Discord/Steam?

It has been an absolute pleasure lads!

Sincerely,

Wim

You're not Thunder, why did you respond to him?
What does the wine no longer present here in the negotiations anymore?
Just he himself said that no one offered anything about the server but now he is not communicating. What's the real problem? If, before that time, he wanted to fix something else, then no more.

What did you guys do when NADORIX came to the server and used cheats? (guys - I mean people who play on the server, not JFF members).
Nothing!
You only wrote that Nadorix bla bla bla, but Thun did everything to get rid of it.
You disconnected from the JFF server and played on another server, but Thun did everything to get rid of it.
You closed cod4 and went for a walk, had fun, laughed and so on, but Thun did everything to get rid of it.
Imagine Thun also wants peace of mind, a normal life, a lot of free time to achieve REAL life goals and achieve success.
Don't be selfish!
So the problem is not the money, the problem is different.
If you want save servers give him that he wants :
- free time;
- REAL life, not gaming.
But, if you don't give it to him what he wants, then the JFF will close and Thun will get free time and real life ;)

That's true, he's not Thunder. Sharp Observation skills you got there, Sherlok.

This ain't negotiations here. Thunder made a decision and it is on us, to respect that decision.
So instead of beeing so disrespectful, coming here making demands you should be grateful for the time you spend here, because HE was the one who made that possible.

And it seems to me, you don't really understand what he was trying to say...
You come here, want to play, disrespect his decision and basically telling him to keep the community so you can satisfy your urge to play.
Ye, let's give a shiet on what thunder wants and keep it..

You gotta be glad I ain't green, otherwise I would have wiped out your existence of the forum..

I have not ridden anyone, do not read it as though I am criticizing someone.
I will not write anything here for you to have a nice future.

I congratulate you for not having ridden anyone.... I guess?
Don't worry, it does not in the least have any influence on my great future.

It may be a lack of intellect or knowledge, but I don’t understand why some of you guys are claiming constructive suggestions to be disrespectful.

I am just an anonymous player and do not know Thunder personally, so I don’t know his motives. However, my view is that he (intentionally or not) left room for speculations. Just considering what he wrote in his statement, one could conclude that it would be possible to SAVE the forum/ server/ community IF the mentioned problems were solved. Otherwise, why would he have described these problems so accurately? He clearly mentioned coding/ hackers/ donations, the slow death of the community and time as factors leading to his decision. Let’s just assume these problems could all be solved – then there would not be any reason left to shut down the server. Of course, if there was any other reason than the ones mentioned by Thunder, it would not make any sense to continue the server. But you can’t blame the people for making suggestions for problems which were described by Thunder himself.

If the only reason for shutting down the server is the conflict between "I do not want to spent any time on administrative stuff anymore" and "I do not want to delegate further responsibility to the community because it feels wrong", that's of course fine and there will be no chance to revoke his decision. In this case I would have communicated it differently than he did, but that's just the oppinion of an anonymous player...

Just if anybody (or especially Thunder) cares: I would spent both, time and money, if there was a chance to maintain what Thunder has established.

I think patriots made clear that he is grateful for the experiences he could make due to Thunder's engagement. Since many other commentators also thought Thunder left room for speculations/ suggestions - in my opinion - it seems not fair to be so harsh. Maybe you could think about why so many people did not understand this correctly instead of wiping out their existance of the forum? But this is just the view of an irrelevant gamer...

I am sorry if I might have hurt your feelings, this wasn't my intention. I just like to poke people, seems to work every time.

BUT... I will not talk about fair or unfair here..
And I do not see why it is not clear. Don't misunderstand, I have stated this many times, I don't want this community to disappear, it's the opposite.
But Thunder made it clear and I think it is our job to respect that decision.
Please be so kind as to show me where he left room for speculations.

Don't worry - the only thing online that could potentially hurt my feelings would be the shut down of JFF ;-)

Well, as I don't know you, I might have misinterpreted what you said. For the speculations, it might also be because I don't know him - Thunder - but please see below what, at least to me, creates the impression that his decision is revocable:

"Due to my time being limited there isn’t much development in the community anymore and if I get any time/energy to spend I just want to enjoy a game and not spend time dealing with coding/cheaters. (...) Also, I have made the addon server & client open source, but nobody sadly wanted to continue development on these parts. Just assuming I had written this statement, I would not have mentioned all these different factors if I my intention was to end JFF definitely. Because this could create the impression that if these different factors get tackled, JFF could be prevented from being shut down (that's also what many commentators seem to think). If the fixture of these factors was not relevant for my decision, I would not have mentioned them.

I am not naive. I know that JFF will probably end on 30/04/2019. Even if JFF would continue, it might just end 6 months/ 1 year/ etc. later due to shrinking users/ community (though community seems to be quite alive to me). I'm just hoping, like many others, that this awesome creation somehow continues because an end would be so sad...

I don't know you, but you like me Holdenkobold. Correctly put everything together and say exactly how I see it, I think there are some conditions that would help to continue this virtual world.
